Dear Readers,

Welcome to the rebooted Avenue and Ridley! I have decided to start this blog anew to give myself a forum to talk about issues that cannot be discussed on my comic and sci-fi themed blog Whatever Gods There Be.

It will focus mostly on the common law and legal issues, Canadian, American and UK politics, public affairs and policy subjects, as well as related book reviews and travel. Like Whatever Gods There Be, it will welcome polite and cordial disagreement and might even take an editorial or partisan slant on occasions.

The photos to accompany this entry were taken in the United Kingdom. The first is of a statue of Abraham Lincoln, the sixteenth President of the United States of America in front of Middlesex Guildhall, the building that currently houses the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom and the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council. The second photo is of MacDonald House, the working building of the Canadian High Commission in the United Kingdom. Most blog entries will be accompanied by a photograph, and I believe these photos encapsulate the overarching theme of the blog.

I hope you will enjoy reading this blog. I know I will enjoy writing it!

Warm regards,

Mark
